Chinese artificial intelligence company DeepSeek has partnered with Huawei Technologies to develop programming tools for Huawei’s Ascend chips, highlighting closer cooperation among Chinese technology firms seeking alternatives to Nvidia’s ecosystem.
In a post on its official WeChat account, DeepSeek said it is open-sourcing infrastructure for Huawei’s Ascend platform, including TileLang, a high-level programming language, along with supporting computing and communication libraries.
DeepSeek said the initiative is aimed at supporting the development of an independent and self-controlled GPU software ecosystem in China. The company described TileLang as a high-level language designed to be accessible to developers while maintaining the ability to fully utilize hardware performance.
According to DeepSeek, TileLang provides a simpler programming model compared with Nvidia’s CUDA, potentially helping developers improve programming efficiency and simplify code.
The partnership represents another step toward strengthening software and hardware integration around Huawei’s Ascend chip platform as Chinese technology companies continue developing domestic alternatives to Nvidia-based AI computing infrastructure.
