The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has decided to establish three modern Sports Arenas at D-12/1, G-11/3 Markaz and F-8 Markaz in Islamabad under the directions of Federal Minister for Interior Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi and the supervision of CDA Chairman. The initiative aims to provide citizens, families and young people with accessible, modern and year-round sports and recreational facilities across the capital.
The project is part of CDA’s broader efforts to promote sports, encourage healthier lifestyles and improve access to quality recreational infrastructure. The three facilities will offer a wide range of sporting and family-oriented activities under integrated setups, allowing residents to participate in physical activities throughout the year.
The Sports Arena at D-12/1 will cover approximately 4.2 acres, while the facilities at G-11/3 Markaz and F-8 Markaz will span around 3.5 acres and 3.2 acres, respectively. Each arena will feature modern facilities, including indoor swimming pools, indoor gyms, futsal courts, cricket cages, indoor and outdoor padel courts, basketball facilities, multipurpose sports halls and indoor play areas for children.
The facilities will also include health bars, administrative areas, landscaping, parking spaces and dedicated tracks. Their locations are expected to make quality sports infrastructure more accessible to residents living and working in different parts of Islamabad.
The Sports Arenas will provide opportunities for sports training, coaching, tournaments, leagues and community activities, while encouraging participation in emerging sports such as padel, futsal and cricket-cage training. The initiative is also aimed at encouraging young people and families to adopt healthier and more active lifestyles.
Citizens have welcomed the CDA’s decision, describing the project as an important step toward developing state-of-the-art sports facilities meeting international standards. They said the availability of diverse sporting activities closer to residential and commercial areas would create greater opportunities for families, youth and sports enthusiasts.
CDA Chairman said modern sports infrastructure is an important part of the authority’s vision for a healthier, more vibrant and citizen-friendly Islamabad. He emphasized the need to provide residents with safe, modern and accessible facilities for sports, fitness and recreation.
The projects will be financed through CDA’s own resources and executed through open competitive bidding under PPRA Rules. The overall Sports Arena initiative is expected to generate around 360 jobs during construction and 92 operational jobs.
The three Sports Arenas at D-12/1, G-11/3 Markaz and F-8 Markaz are expected to add a new dimension to Islamabad’s recreational infrastructure by providing residents with modern, accessible and diverse facilities for sports, fitness and family activities.
