The Punjab Communication and Works Department is set to open the Rs19 billion Kutchery Chowk remodelling project by May 31, achieving 92% completion in just six months—a significant acceleration from its original 18-month timeline. Executed by the Frontier Works Organisation (FWO), the project features two flyovers and three underpasses designed to manage over 250,000 vehicles daily, alongside new pedestrian bridges and green belts. Once this junction is operational, the government will immediately launch an Rs8 billion project on Peshawar Road involving three additional underpasses to further streamline Rawalpindi's traffic flow.

To bolster Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s defenses against intensifying climate threats, the World Bank is set to approve a $250 million IDA-funded project this June. The initiative transitions from reactive disaster management to long-term resilience, allocating $193 million to climate-hardened infrastructure such as embankments and check dams engineered to withstand 1-in-100-year flood events. Beyond physical barriers, the funding will overhaul early warning systems and community preparedness to mitigate the recurring economic toll, which has cost the province an estimated $2.3 billion in cumulative damages over the last 15 years.

RDA Unveils PKR 17 Billion Revitalization Plan for Murree Road
The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) has proposed a PKR 17 billion expansion of Murree Road, specifically targeting the congested stretch between Liaquat Bagh and Chandni Chowk. RWP Ring Road cost rises, deadline extended
The cost of the Rawalpindi Ring Road has increased from Rs33 billion to Rs50 billion after revising the project design, mainly to expand the crucial Thallian Interchange that links the road to the motorway. As a result, the completion deadline has been pushed from December 2025 to March 2026, even though officials say around 70% of work on the 38.3km route is already finished and still expected to transform regional traffic flow and future economic development along the corridor.
