The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has cleared approximately 750 kanals of acquired land in Islamabad’s Sector E-12, removing a major hurdle that had delayed development in the area for several years.
CDA Chairman Sohail Ashraf recently visited Sector E-12 to review ongoing development activities. During the visit, officials briefed him that the cleared land had been under unauthorised occupation, preventing the CDA from carrying out planned development work.
The chairman directed the relevant departments to accelerate development on the cleared land while ensuring that all construction and infrastructure work complies with approved plans, technical standards and applicable laws.
Sector E-12 has faced development delays for decades. Although the sector was launched in 1989, it remains incomplete after 37 years. The latest clearance of acquired land is therefore being viewed as an important step toward restarting and expanding development activities in the sector.
According to the CDA, the land-clearing operation was conducted with the cooperation of the Islamabad administration. The broader effort is aimed at removing encroachments, safeguarding public and acquired land, and resolving longstanding issues that have hindered development projects across Islamabad.
The authority also reported progress in addressing the concerns of genuine affectees. Allotment letters have been issued following verification of claims and completion of the required legal procedures. During the process, officials also identified unauthorised structures and occupation on acquired state land.
The CDA has warned that legal action will be taken against individuals involved in unauthorised construction, occupation or commercial use of the land. While the clearance of 750 kanals does not mean that Sector E-12 has been fully developed, it removes a significant barrier and provides additional land for planned development.
