KP Government Outlines Self-Funded Financing Strategy for 360km Motorway

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has unveiled a comprehensive financing plan for the proposed 360-kilometre Peshawar–Dera Ismail Khan Motorway, a major project designed to bolster regional connectivity across the province. This initiative aims to strengthen transportation links between the province's northern and southern districts.

Financing and Implementation

  • Internal Resource Mobilization: According to KP Finance Adviser Muzzammil Aslam, the project will be funded through provincial budgetary resources, emphasizing fiscal discipline and enhanced financial management.

  • Reduced External Reliance: The strategy focuses on mobilizing internal resources to minimize dependence on external borrowing for large-scale infrastructure development.

  • Phased Allocation: The government has finalized the initial groundwork and plans to allocate funds in phases, with an initial estimated requirement between PKR 200 billion and PKR 250 billion.

  • Project Structure: The motorway will be developed in multiple stages, with various construction portions managed under a structured provincial development plan.

Looking ahead, the government signaled its intention to launch additional large-scale infrastructure projects in the coming months as part of its ongoing development agenda.
