After decades of delays, Islamabad’s Sector E-12 is set for a major development push as the Capital Development Authority (CDA) targets completion of the long-delayed sector within the next six months. Launched in 1989, E-12 has left allottees waiting for nearly 37 years for full development and access to essential civic infrastructure.
CDA Chairman and Chief Commissioner Islamabad Sohail Ashraf said the authority has recovered more than 1,000 kanals of land in the sector, removing a major obstacle that had slowed development for years.
Land possession by local owners and unresolved compensation claims had been among the key challenges facing E-12. The CDA recently distributed around 15 allotment letters to local landowners and said genuine outstanding cases would be addressed to facilitate further development.
According to the authority, substantial progress has already been made in three sub-sectors, while development efforts are now focusing on the previously delayed Sub-Sector 4. The CDA aims to complete development across E-12 within six months, subject to work progressing according to schedule.
The development is expected to provide relief to plot allottees who have waited for decades for proper road access, infrastructure and civic facilities. The CDA says the recovery of land has enabled construction and infrastructure work to accelerate in accordance with the approved development plan.
Planned facilities include modern roads, municipal infrastructure and other essential civic amenities required for future residents. The authority believes the latest progress could finally bring the long-delayed sector closer to becoming a fully developed residential area.
However, similar land and compensation challenges continue to affect several other sectors of Islamabad, including C-13, C-15, C-16, D-13, E-13 and F-13, where development remains pending in areas affected by unresolved compensation matters.
