The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has approved development projects worth approximately Rs24.5 billion in Islamabad, including the 11th Avenue Project and three new sports arenas. The approvals were granted during a meeting of the CDA Development Working Party (DWP), according to a Dawn report published on September 25, 2026.
The 11th Avenue Project has been approved at an estimated cost of Rs17.8 billion and is aimed at improving connectivity between key areas of the federal capital. The project will cover the route from I.J. Principal Road to Khayaban-i-Iqbal and involve the construction of an approximately 5.4-kilometre road.
The road project will also feature flyovers, underpasses and other supporting infrastructure designed to improve traffic flow and provide an additional major route across Islamabad. The CDA expects the project to help reduce congestion on existing roads and make daily commuting easier for residents.
In addition to the road project, the CDA DWP approved three sports arenas with a combined estimated cost of Rs6.7 billion. The facilities will be developed in Sectors G-6, G-7 and G-8, providing residents with modern spaces for indoor and outdoor sporting activities.
CDA Chairman Mohammad Ali Randhawa directed officials to maintain construction quality and ensure timely completion of the approved schemes. According to the report, the projects are expected to be completed within one year of the start of construction.
The approved schemes are expected to strengthen Islamabad’s transport network while adding new recreational and sports infrastructure to the capital.
