The Karachi IT Park is expected to create around 15,000 jobs and generate up to $100 million in annual ICT exports once operational, according to a report published on September 24.
Federal Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal said the project, being developed by the Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB) near Jinnah International Airport, is designed to serve as a major technology hub for IT companies, startups and other technology-focused businesses.
The facility will span approximately 1.18 million square feet and is planned to feature 220 offices, 30 startup spaces, incubation and co-working facilities, a data centre, and dedicated research and innovation areas.
The Karachi IT Park is expected to support emerging technology sectors such as artificial intelligence, cloud computing, cybersecurity, fintech and data analytics. It will also promote collaboration between technology companies, startups, research institutions and academic organisations.
According to the Special Technology Zones Authority (STZA), construction of the project is currently underway. The IT Park has a planned covered area of approximately 1.145 million square feet across six acres.
The project has an estimated cost of $186.658 million and is being financed through Korea's Economic Development Cooperation Fund (EDCF) and the Government of Pakistan. The initiative is part of Pakistan's broader efforts to strengthen digital infrastructure, support technology businesses, create employment opportunities and expand the country's ICT export capacity.
