Sindh Extends Free Pink Scooty Initiative to Hyderabad

The Sindh government is shifting gears on female empowerment, officially announcing the expansion of its Pink Scooty scheme to Hyderabad. Following a successful launch in Sukkur, the initiative aims to dismantle transport barriers and hand the keys of independence directly to the women of the province.

Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon confirmed that the Hyderabad rollout is the next phase of a provincial mission to boost women's mobility. The program is designed as a comprehensive safety and licensing package, ensuring participants are fully prepared for the road.

Under the scheme, eligible women receive free, easy-to-handle scooters, alongside high-quality helmets. Beyond the hardware, the government provides formal driving training and assists in obtaining official driving licenses to ensure safe and confident commuting.

This initiative is part of a broader "mobility revolution" within Sindh. Alongside the scooty program, the People’s Bus Service network is undergoing a significant expansion to provide affordable, comfortable transport to the general public. Plans are finalized to launch new inter-city routes connecting Khairpur to both Rohri and Ranipur.

Furthermore, the government is preparing to introduce new bus services within Hyderabad, specifically focusing on connecting Kohsar to Hyder Chowk, and establishing a new link between Hyderabad and Tando Allahyar.

The overarching strategy of these projects is to provide quality public infrastructure that directly benefits ordinary citizens, with a special emphasis on women, the youth, and the working class. Minister Memon emphasized that these efforts are central to the provincial government’s commitment to building confidence among women and making daily travel a reliable, rather than challenging, aspect of their lives.

By integrating both personalized mobility through the scooter scheme and mass transit through the bus network, the government aims to create a more inclusive and accessible environment across the province
