Islamabad to undergo comprehensive civic infrastructure upgrades under new CDA plan

The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has approved an extensive citywide rehabilitation and upgrade plan for all sectors of Islamabad. The initiative targets consistent road repairs including resurfacing, patchwork, and reconstruction, along with footpath repairs and new pedestrian pathways where necessary. Streetlights and poles will be restored or newly installed to enhance safety.

The program also includes upgrading commercial hubs such as Super Market, Jinnah Super, Aabpara, Karachi Company, and the Blue Area, with careful coordination to minimize disruptions. Additional measures involve installing new signage, lane markings, rubber speed breakers, and improvements to sewerage and drainage systems including manholes and curb stones.

Surveys assessing the conditions of roads, streets, and markets have been completed, and preliminary costing for older sectors has been finalized. Chairman Muhammad Ali Randhawa directed the use of internal resources and modern machinery to ensure efficient execution, with architects engaged for beautification efforts to improve Islamabad's aesthetic appeal. Overall, the plan focuses on enhancing civic services and restoring the capital’s environment to better serve its residents.
