The Interior Ministry has sped up plans for a modern cricket stadium in Islamabad, designed to meet international standards and regularly host visiting teams. The venue is to be developed in the D-12 sector, with the Capital Development Authority given a tight one-year deadline and a brief that includes advanced security systems, dedicated access roads, and large parking areas to minimise match-day traffic disruption.
Officials say the complex will mirror leading venues in cities such as Dubai, with a luxury hotel next to the stadium to house foreign teams and officials, cutting travel time and easing security logistics. By moving major fixtures away from the city centre, the government hopes to reduce congestion while giving the capital a flagship cricket arena that can stage high-profile international matches and tournaments in the years ahead.
