CDA Chairman Meeting with Investors and Developers

Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA) and Chief Commissioner Islamabad Sohail Ashraf held a meeting with leading investors, developers, and hospitality industry representatives to discuss upgrading Islamabad’s hotel and tourism sectors ahead of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit scheduled for August 2027.

The meeting took place at CDA Headquarters and was attended by Ducommun Tim Paul, Director of Development for Asia at the ACCOR Group, along with representatives of major hotel brands, including Marriott, Serena, Mövenpick, Best Western, and Ramada.

Discussions focused on improving hotel facilities, raising hospitality standards, and preparing the federal capital to accommodate international delegations and visitors during the upcoming summit. Participants also explored opportunities to modernise existing hotels and strengthen Islamabad’s position as a destination for tourism, business, and international events.

During the meeting, the ACCOR Group representative appreciated CDA’s efforts to make Islamabad more attractive for tourism and business activities.

CDA Chairman Sohail Ashraf said Islamabad offered significant opportunities for investment in the hospitality sector. He emphasised the need to modernise existing facilities in line with international standards as the city continues to develop its tourism potential.

He added that CDA would facilitate investors and encourage greater private-sector participation in expanding and upgrading hospitality services. The authority also plans to utilise available resources to improve the city’s readiness for major international events, including the SCO Summit 2027.

The meeting highlighted the importance of cooperation between CDA, investors, developers, hotel operators, and international hospitality groups to enhance Islamabad’s accommodation capacity, improve visitor services, and strengthen its role as a diplomatic and tourism destination.
