The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has granted in-principle approval to five major development projects in Islamabad, including two high-rise towers in the Blue Area commercial district. The move aims to promote vertical development, attract investment, and modernize the capital’s commercial infrastructure.
The approvals were granted during a meeting of the CDA Design Vetting Committee, chaired by Member Planning and Development Muhammad Umair. The proposed projects were reviewed against applicable planning regulations, technical requirements, and building standards.
The most prominent proposal is a 45-storey mixed-use tower, approximately 659 feet tall, planned for Plot No. 13 in Blue Area, Sector F-8/G-8. Spanning approximately 557,641 square feet, the project includes five basement parking levels, retail outlets, restaurants, residential apartments, and penthouses.
The Committee also granted in-principle approval to a second high-rise tower at Plot No. 09 in Blue Area, Sector F-9/G-9. The proposed building will rise approximately 580 feet and comprise 42 storeys, further strengthening the area’s potential for modern commercial and residential development.
Three additional projects also received in-principle approval, subject to compliance with technical observations and relevant regulations. These include Tremezzo Mall in Bahria Garden City, Plot No. 62 in Business Park, Gulberg Greens, and Plot No. 108 in Park Avenue North, Gulberg Greens.
Under the directions of Federal Interior Minister Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi and the leadership of CDA Chairman Sohail Ashraf, the authority is focusing on accelerating development, facilitating investors, and encouraging private-sector participation. The initiative aims to expand commercial opportunities, improve urban infrastructure, and promote internationally competitive buildings and hotels.
The CDA emphasized that all approved projects must meet applicable requirements for planning compliance, structural stability, parking, fire protection, and life safety before receiving final approval.
The authority aims to transform Islamabad into a modern, investment-friendly, and tourist-attractive capital while preserving its planned urban character and green spaces. The latest approvals represent a step towards promoting efficient land use, supporting economic activity, and encouraging high-quality development across the city.
