The city of Lahore is gearing up for the vibrant Basant Festival 2026, set to be celebrated from February 6 to 8. City authorities have announced the final list of venues and outlined security and administrative measures to ensure a safe and festive environment.
According to official reports, major parks including Greater Iqbal Park, Jallo Park, Jilani Park, Gulshan Iqbal Park, and Model Town Park have been designated for Basant celebrations. Additionally, authorities are considering opening selected areas of the Walled City to host traditional kite-flying events.
A strict prohibition has been placed on metallic, wire, and chemical-coated kite strings to prevent accidents. Citizens who report the use of such materials will be rewarded with Rs. 5,000. Only cotton strings and mildly glass-coated manja will be permitted for use.
Special monitoring teams will remain active throughout the event to prevent violations and maintain order. Law enforcement and rescue teams will also be on standby to ensure the safety of participants and public spaces.
Officials urged the public to abide by all guidelines and cooperate with authorities so that Basant 2026 can be celebrated safely, joyfully, and without incident.
