Taxpayers Get Relief as FBR Suspends QR Code Login

ISLAMABAD – In a move providing relief to taxpayers, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has officially suspended the requirement for logging into its “IRIS” system using a QR code.

The decision was communicated to the Federal Tax Ombudsman (FTO) Regional Secretariat in Peshawar, following a formal complaint. A tax expert familiar with the case confirmed that the complaint was directly related to the hassle of the QR code login, and its resolution means the FBR has taken a step to simplify the process for its users.

In a letter to the FTO, the FBR confirmed the suspension, stating that the QR code requirement has been removed from the IRIS system. This change signals the FBR’s commitment to addressing feedback from taxpayers and streamlining the digital tax filing process.
