The Sindh government has officially distributed solar home system kits to 140 households across Tharparkar and Ghotki as part of the "Roshan Ghar – Roshan Sindh" initiative. This program is dedicated to increasing access to affordable and clean energy sources within the province.
Project Implementation and Reach
The distribution took place during ceremonies in Mithi and Mirpur Mathelo, where 118 households in Tharparkar and 22 households in Ghotki were provided with the solar kits. The initiative operates under the "Solar Home System (On-grid/Off-grid) Project," which is financed by the Sindh Energy Department and managed by the Sindh Rural Support Organization (SRSO).
Objectives and Sustainability
The broader goal of this project is to provide sustainable and reliable solar energy solutions to a total of 275,000 households across 30 districts in Sindh. Key aspects of the program include:
-
Transparent Selection: Beneficiaries were identified through a rigorous process involving surveys, verification, and validation, ensuring alignment with the Sindh Solar Energy Programme's eligibility criteria.
-
Operational Training: To guarantee both safety and equipment longevity, recipients were provided with comprehensive training on the installation, maintenance, and daily operation of their new solar home systems.
