SECP Approves Digital Financing for Small Businesses

SECP Approves Digital Financing for Small Businesses

The Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) has approved Shaamilkar Tajir, a digital financing application that will provide eligible small businesses with Shariah-compliant financing of up to Rs3 million.

Developed by SECP-licensed Shaamilkar Financial Services, the digital platform will allow micro-entrepreneurs to purchase inventory from approved suppliers through a faster and simplified financing process.

According to the SECP, the initiative is designed to improve access to formal credit for underserved micro and small businesses and support their business expansion. SECP Chairman Dr Kabir Ahmed Sidhu said technology-enabled financing can help bring underserved businesses into the formal financial system while maintaining regulatory oversight and consumer protection.

The approval is also aligned with the Federal Government’s Access to Finance agenda for SMEs and other priority sectors.

Data shared by the SECP shows that between July 2025 and June 2026, licensed lending non-bank finance companies (NBFCs) provided around Rs253 billion through 2.5 million loans to micro, small and medium enterprises, highlighting growing demand for digital and formal financing solutions.
