The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has commenced a significant project to renew and upgrade its core firewall system, aimed at fortifying the nation's cybersecurity infrastructure against increasingly complex digital threats.
The initiative, budgeted between Rs. 40 million and Rs. 120 million, will modernize the existing network security across the PTA Headquarters and its regional offices. The project specifically involves acquiring and installing Next-Generation Firewalls (NGFWs), renewing necessary software licenses, and ensuring seamless integration with PTA’s monitoring units and data centers.
Once implemented, this upgraded system is expected to provide the PTA with superior visibility, control, and resilience necessary to safeguard Pakistan’s critical telecom and digital networks.
