The federal government has announced a fresh reduction in petrol and high-speed diesel (HSD) prices for August 7, offering temporary relief to consumers across Pakistan. The revised fuel prices were notified by the Ministry of Energy (Petroleum Division) on Thursday under the government's petroleum pricing mechanism.
According to the official notification, the ex-depot price of petrol has been reduced by Rs3.19 per litre, bringing the new price down to Rs329.82 per litre from the previous Rs333.01 per litre.
Similarly, the ex-depot price of high-speed diesel (HSD) has been lowered by Rs1.50 per litre, decreasing from Rs383.86 per litre to Rs382.36 per litre.
The latest fuel price revision was recommended by the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) and will remain effective until tomorrow, when the next scheduled price review is expected.
The adjustment follows the previous fuel price revision announced a day earlier, in which the government had increased petrol prices by Rs4.45 per litre while reducing HSD prices by Rs2 per litre.
The revised petroleum prices reflect the government's ongoing fuel pricing mechanism, which is based on international oil market trends and exchange rate fluctuations. Consumers and businesses continue to monitor fuel price changes closely due to their direct impact on transportation costs, inflation, and overall economic activity.
