Pakistan Freelancers’ Export Earnings jump higher in 2026

Pakistan’s freelance export earnings surged 45.5% year-on-year to $175.439 million in July 2026, marking a strong start to FY2026-27 and generating an additional $54.883 million in foreign exchange, according to State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) data.

The growth was driven by both IT and non-IT freelancing. IT-related freelance receipts rose to $106.778 million from $89.872 million in July 2025, while non-IT freelance earnings more than doubled to $68.661 million from $30.684 million.

Pakistan Freelancers Association (PAFLA) Chairperson Ibrahim Amin said the sector was maintaining its growth momentum but would need to expand by more than 50% in the coming months to significantly boost annual earnings. He also highlighted the importance of technical, communication, business development and client-management skills for freelancers competing in international markets.

Meanwhile, Pakistan’s broader IT export sector also recorded strong growth, with IT exports reaching $417 million in July 2026, up 18% from $354 million a year earlier. The figures underline the growing contribution of Pakistan’s digital workforce to employment, exports and foreign exchange earnings.
