Pakistan Commits Rs. 100 Billion to Karachi-Chaman Road in PSDP 2025-26

Government Fast-Tracks Karachi-Chaman Highway Development

Pakistan’s government is prioritizing a major infrastructure upgrade by allocating Rs. 100 billion in the latest Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) for the Karachi–Quetta–Chaman road. This was confirmed by Parliamentary Secretary for Communications Gill Asghar Khan during a National Assembly session.

The government’s plan goes beyond a single project, encompassing all 72 priority initiatives of the National Highway Authority (NHA). Khan stated that the focus is on tackling common obstacles like funding, land acquisition, and technical challenges to ensure these projects are completed on schedule. He specifically highlighted that feasibility studies and realignment work are currently in progress for key motorways, including the M-9 and M-10.

A significant aspect of this push for infrastructure development is the dedicated attention to Balochistan. The Karachi-Quetta-Chaman highway, a major trade route, is a crucial component of this regional focus. The government is committed to finishing all 72 projects within their given timelines, with a special emphasis on boosting the development landscape of Balochistan.
