OGDCL Commences Production at Sahito-1 Gas Well in Sindh

The Oil & Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) has officially initiated gas production from its Sahito-1 discovery, located in the Khairpur district of Sindh. The well, situated in the Lower Goru Formation (Massive Sand) within the Khewari Exploration Licence, is currently yielding 6.0 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD).

Operational Details and Infrastructure

To facilitate the early monetization of this discovery, OGDCL has implemented a new infrastructure setup:

  • The company installed a 6-inch, 5-kilometre flowline to connect the well to the existing Suleman Gathering Facility.

  • The extracted gas undergoes processing at the Sinjhoro Plant.

  • Following processing, the gas is injected into the Sui Southern Gas Company Limited (SSGCL) network for national distribution.

Future Outlook and Ownership

OGDCL noted that production levels are anticipated to rise steadily as the company proceeds with the planned expansion of surface facilities. This initiative aligns with the firm's broader strategy to enhance the development and monetization of Pakistan’s indigenous hydrocarbon resources.

The Khewari Exploration Licence is managed by OGDCL, which maintains a 75% working interest, while the remaining 25% stake is held by Government Holdings (Private) Limited (GHPL). As Pakistan's largest exploration and production firm, OGDCL continues to lead in various sectors, including drilling, reservoir management, and engineering support services.
