RAWALPINDI: The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) is preparing to launch a new online portal for the public to easily verify the legal status of housing schemes and individual plots before making any investments. This initiative comes directly following instructions from the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).
The directive was issued during a meeting chaired by NAB Rawalpindi Director General Waqar Ahmad Chohan, who emphasized the goal of enhancing transparency in the real estate sector and protecting citizens from fraudulent and unapproved projects.
Enhancing Transparency and Combating Scams
The upcoming digital platform is designed to provide quick and easy access to crucial information. Users will be able to check whether any public or private housing scheme is:
-
Approved
-
Under Process
-
Illegal
DG NAB Waqar Ahmad Chohan stressed that this initiative is aimed at ensuring transparency and directly safeguarding citizens from real estate scams. He instructed officials from both the RDA and the Capital Development Authority (CDA) to share their existing housing project data to ensure its comprehensive integration into the new system.
The online portal is part of NAB’s broader efforts to promote accountability and responsible urban growth, addressing rising concerns over the unchecked proliferation of illegal and unregulated housing schemes throughout Rawalpindi and surrounding areas.
A follow-up session is scheduled for next week to finalize the technical and operational framework of the portal, paving the way for its official launch.
