Meezan Bank has crossed Rs3.05 billion in cumulative housing finance disbursements under the Government of Pakistan’s flagship affordable housing initiative, the Wazir-e-Azam Apna Ghar Programme – Ghar Ho Tu Apna (GHTA).
The bank has also approved more than 3,000 housing finance applications under the programme, with the total approved financing amount exceeding Rs22.557 billion, highlighting strong demand for affordable and Shariah-compliant home financing in Pakistan.
Launched on April 30, 2026, by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the GHTA Programme aims to make homeownership more accessible to low- and middle-income families by providing affordable, long-term housing finance. The initiative also seeks to stimulate economic activity by supporting construction and related sectors.
Meezan Bank said the milestone reflects growing customer demand for its Shariah-compliant housing finance solutions and its commitment to promoting ethical, transparent and customer-focused financing.
The GHTA Programme was developed following consultations with the private sector, the Ministry of Finance and the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP). The initiative is designed to address Pakistan’s housing shortage while expanding access to formal housing finance.
Ahmed Ali Siddiqui, Group Head – Consumer Finance & Digital Banking at Meezan Bank, said affordable homeownership remains one of the bank’s key strategic priorities. He added that the bank would continue supporting the government’s affordable housing agenda and helping more Pakistani families achieve homeownership through Islamic financing.
With more than 3,000 approved applications and over Rs22.5 billion in approved financing, Meezan Bank’s performance under the GHTA Programme highlights the growing role of Islamic banking in Pakistan’s affordable housing sector.
