The Ministry of Energy (Power Division) has officially launched Pakistan’s first National Power Sector Innovation Programme, aimed at encouraging innovative ideas and developing practical solutions for the country’s power sector.
The programme will use Innovation Hub as its dedicated digital platform, providing a structured system to identify, evaluate, mentor and support promising ideas. Selected innovations will be developed into tested and scalable solutions designed to improve the efficiency, reliability and sustainability of Pakistan’s power sector.
More than Rs1 billion will be allocated over the next three years under the initiative. The funding will support mentorship, technical assistance, pilot projects and the scaling up of successful innovations.
Federal Minister for Energy (Power Division) Sardar Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari said the power sector needed greater innovation, creative thinking and continuous improvement to address its challenges.
Leghari described the initiative as more than a competition, calling it Pakistan’s first national institutional framework dedicated to innovation in the power sector.
He also encouraged young Pakistanis to participate through the Innovation Hub digital platform. Aspiring innovators, students, researchers and startups have been invited to submit their ideas and contribute to efforts aimed at shaping the future of Pakistan’s energy sector.
