Islamabad to Launch First Weekly Organic Farmers’ Market

ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA), in partnership with the Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad (MCI), has announced plans to open the capital’s first-ever weekly organic farmers’ market in Sector F-7/3.

The initiative aims to promote healthier eating habits and provide citizens with easy access to fresh, locally sourced organic produce. Shoppers will find a variety of items including fruits, vegetables, honey, olives, and other natural products.

According to CDA officials, the Directorate of Municipal Administration (DMA) will oversee the market and has invited applications from vendors, with September 12, 2025, set as the deadline for submissions.

Officials noted that the market will directly connect local growers with consumers by cutting out middlemen. This model is expected to ensure fair pricing for buyers while also empowering small farmers and supporting community-based trade.

The weekly organic market — the first of its kind in Islamabad — is set to become a regular feature for residents who value sustainable, farm-fresh, and eco-friendly food choices.
