Islamabad IT Park Nears Completion, Set to Unlock 10,000 Tech Jobs

The Islamabad IT Park, a key project in Pakistan's "Digital Pakistan" initiative, is rapidly approaching completion, with physical progress reported at 71%. The massive development is expected to be largely completed by December 31, 2025.

  • Funding & Budget: The project is primarily financed by a concessional $76.3 million loan from South Korea. An additional $12.5 million has been allocated from the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP). The project remains within its overall budget despite various economic challenges.

  • Job Creation: The facility is projected to create approximately 10,000 new job opportunities within Pakistan's technology sector.

  • Facility & Capacity: The park features a 12-story building covering nearly 67,000 square meters. It is designed to house around 120 startups and SMEs, and will include testing laboratories, classrooms, an auditorium, and an industry-academia linkage center.

  • Strategic Goal: The park's main objectives are to function as a hub for innovation, promote technology transfer, support commercialization, and significantly boost Pakistan's IT exports and industry competitiveness by attracting global companies.

This venture, alongside the Karachi IT Park (also South Korean-funded), reflects increasing international investment and confidence in the country's growing tech ecosystem.
