Pakistan’s cement dispatches fell 0.70% year-on-year in August 2026, reaching 4.039 million tonnes compared with 4.068 million tonnes in August 2025, according to data released by the All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association (APCMA).
Domestic cement dispatches declined 1.07% to 3.283 million tonnes during August, while exports edged up 0.92% to 756,553 tonnes. The latest figures highlight a sharp regional divide, with cement sales in northern Pakistan coming under pressure while southern mills recorded strong growth.
North-based cement mills dispatched 2.691 million tonnes in August, down 9.43% from 2.972 million tonnes a year earlier. Domestic dispatches from northern mills fell 2.59% to 2.691 million tonnes, while there were no cement exports from the region during the month.
In contrast, South-based cement mills posted a 22.97% increase in total dispatches, reaching 1.35 million tonnes compared with 1.096 million tonnes in August 2025. Domestic dispatches rose 6.53% to 591,164 tonnes, while exports surged 39.83% to 756,553 tonnes.
Despite the monthly decline, Pakistan’s cement sector recorded overall growth during the first two months of fiscal year 2026-27. Total cement dispatches increased 2.80% to 8.521 million tonnes, while domestic dispatches rose 8.04% to 7.058 million tonnes. Exports, however, dropped 16.69% to 1.464 million tonnes.
North-based mills recorded domestic dispatches of 5.784 million tonnes during July-August, an increase of 7.98%. However, the absence of exports from the North resulted in a 0.22% decline in the region’s total dispatches.
South-based mills performed better, with domestic dispatches rising 8.28% to 1.274 million tonnes and exports increasing 11.21% to 1.463 million tonnes. Their total dispatches climbed 9.83% to 2.738 million tonnes.
The APCMA expressed concern over the impact of heavy rains and floods in northern Pakistan, warning that damage to agriculture and housing could further affect economic activity and cement demand in the region. The association urged the government to support communities affected by the floods.
