FIA Books Seven CDA Officials Over Fake Plot Allotments

According to Dawn, the alleged irregularities came to light after CDA Member Estate Mohammad Zaman Wattoo reviewed the allotment records. Following the findings, the FIA obtained relevant documents and registered a First Information Report (FIR) against seven officials, including two former directors of land and a deputy director general.

The investigation focuses on 10 residential plots measuring 30 by 60 feet in Sector I-12/4. Investigators suspect that the plots were allotted using allegedly falsified documents and misleading information regarding previous land compensation.

According to the reported findings, the allotments were approved in 2017, while the process was completed in 2023. The plots were allegedly allotted to the legal heirs of a deceased landowner who had previously received land compensation in Jalalpur Pirwala, Multan.

Investigators suspect that the earlier compensation could have made the beneficiaries ineligible for additional plots in Islamabad and that details of the previous allocation were concealed during the allotment process.

The case was registered following FIA inquiry number 35/2024. Investigators are also examining the possible involvement of other officials, including a former Member Estate and an assistant director of Land Revenue. The accused officials and other individuals involved are entitled to due process, and the allegations have yet to be proven in court.

The case has renewed concerns about the verification of CDA property records and the transparency of residential plot allotments in the federal capital. Property buyers are advised to verify ownership documents, allotment letters, transfer records and any outstanding legal disputes before purchasing plots in Islamabad.

The FIA investigation is ongoing, and further legal proceedings will determine responsibility for the alleged irregularities.
