Commissioner Reviews RUDA Initiatives Along River Ravi

Commissioner Lahore Marryam Khan on Tuesday chaired a progress review meeting of the Ravi Urban Development Authority (RUDA), focusing on ongoing and planned schemes along the River Ravi corridor.

RUDA Chief Executive Officer Imran Amin briefed the forum on major initiatives such as river drainage works, the Ravi City development, bridge schemes and related infrastructure. The presentation covered 16 river drainage packages that involve constructing and raising embankments on both banks of the river from Syphon to the Railway Bridge.

The commissioner took a detailed look at two priority sections: the 16-kilometre stretch from Syphon to the Railway Bridge and the 9-kilometre link between the Railway Bridge and the M-2 Motorway. She instructed the Lahore district administration to ensure proper handling of revenue issues along the segment from the Railway Bridge to M-2.

Marryam Khan further directed assistant commissioners to proceed with strict legal action, under a defined strategy, against illegal sand extraction carried out without valid permits. She stressed that RUDA’s projects are of long-term strategic importance and reiterated that the district administration is extending full cooperation.

Commending the efforts of the Lahore and Sheikhupura district administrations, the commissioner observed that RUDA and Central Business District (CBD) schemes count among the region’s most significant development ventures. She added that all concerned administrative departments are working in close coordination to secure timely and effective implementation.
