AJK Approves PKR 35 Billion Development Boost for Infrastructure and IT

The Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) government has greenlit a massive development package consisting of 44 projects designed to modernize infrastructure, enhance public services, and accelerate digital literacy. Chaired by Prime Minister Raja Faisal Mumtaz Rathore, the Cabinet Development Committee cleared the initiatives with a total investment of PKR 34.85 billion.

A primary focus of the package is the communications and works sector, where substantial funds will be directed toward expanding the regional road network. The plan includes the construction of vital link roads across various constituencies, aimed at bridging the gap between remote areas and urban centers.

Beyond physical infrastructure, the government is prioritizing the region's digital future. The package includes the establishment of IT excellence centers to equip youth with high-demand tech skills, fostering better employment prospects and supporting a growing digital economy.

Furthermore, significant upgrades are slated for the health and education sectors, including the expansion of healthcare facilities and the construction of new classrooms to improve the quality of public services for both rural and urban residents.
