History & Background
Circle K launched in 1951 when Fred Hervey purchased three Kay’s Food Stores in El Paso, Texas, naming them Circle K Food Stores, Inc. Expansion followed into New Mexico and Arizona by 1957. Major growth occurred after acquiring UtoteM in 1983 (adding ~960 stores). In 2003, Alimentation Couche‑Tard acquired Circle K, and by 2015, the brand was globally unified under Circle K.
